Autumn Blaze is a rapidly growing hybrid between red and silver maple, and one of the most popular maple cultivars on the market. At maturity it forms an oval to round crown reaching around 50 feet tall and 40 feet wide, adding roughly 3 feet of growth a year.
Its main draws are that growth rate and a showy fall display, foliage turns a vibrant orange to red each autumn, after emerging with a red hue in spring that fades to green by summer. Aside from dropping leaves, it makes little mess: Autumn Blaze rarely produces seeds or blossoms.
It tolerates both wet and dry conditions and shows good resistance to insects and disease, making it a low-maintenance choice for anyone who wants a large, showy, fast-growing shade tree once it’s established.
