The Serbian spruce is one of the most graceful of all spruces, with thin arching branches and a slender trunk. It grows tall and narrow with a weeping pyramidal shape, and needles that range from light green to blue-green.

It favors deep, rich, moist, well-drained soils with protection from strong winds, and has no serious insect or disease problems. A good choice as an individual specimen tree or planted in groups, it also provides habitat for many birds and mammals.
