Most people need a tree between six and eight feet. This page is for everyone else: the church hall with a twenty-foot ceiling, the office lobby that needs something visible from the street, the hotel that puts one tree up and wants it to be the tree people photograph.

We grow our own, so a tall tree is not something we order in and hope about. It is standing in a row at Clear Lake right now, and it gets cut when you need it rather than in October. That is the difference between a fresh 16-foot tree and one that has been on a lot for three weeks.

How tall a Christmas tree can you actually supply?

Up to 20 feet at the Clear Lake farm, which is where the tallest trees grow. Princeton and the Twin Cities lots run to about 14 feet. Above 20 feet, ask: it depends what is standing that year.

Do you deliver a large Christmas tree?

For big trees, yes, by arrangement. A 16-foot tree is not going on a car roof, and it needs a stand rated for it. Call and we will work out the delivery and what it needs to stand in.

How far ahead should we order a tall tree?

As early as you can. There are only so many trees of that size in any given year, and the ones for offices and churches are usually spoken for well before Thanksgiving. Ringing in October is not too early.

What species works best at that height?

Fraser fir and Balsam fir hold their shape and their needles at height. A blue spruce makes a striking tall tree and has the branch strength for large-scale decorations, though it drops sooner indoors. We will talk it through when you call.
